A Dreamy Navy Blue Winter Wedding at Deerhurst Resort. Rustic romance simply abounds with this fabulous wedding at Deerhurst Resort in Ontario, Canada. “Getting married in the winter was originally just a practical decision,” says Shannon- the gorgeous bride who made it happen. “Jake and I work together in the skydiving industry so living in Canada means that the winter is slower for us. All my friends were having beautiful summer weddings and it was nice to be doing something different. Winter can be so dreary and I like the idea of always having our anniversary to look forward too.” And so it came together…

I’ve always spent time at the resort growing up and Jake fell in love with it as soon as he saw it. It’s a resort in the Muskokas (an area of Ontario which is beautiful!!). Once we had decided on winter and the venue everything else came together really easily in terms of a vision.

We met Shannon when she was planning her wedding theme and provided an assortment of wedding papers to get her planning started. Shannon has so many wonderfully fun ideas to incorporate, we knew this would be one of our favorite weddings to design ever! This is just a sampling of some of the great designs Shannon had in mind- we loved working together to make the wedding just perfect!

The details are amazing! According to Shannon, “We wanted to keep our wedding parties small so I just had each of our sisters and Jake had his two best friends. I let the girls pick their own dresses so they would be comfortable. We had lots of hiccups with vendors including two vendors closing before our wedding day! Jake’s suit came in without his vest a few days before the wedding, the Dj went home sick the day of the wedding, and our sleigh ride broke down between the ceremony and the reception. But it’s become something to laugh about now. Our wedding turned out exactly as I wanted and I wouldn’t change it for anything. The florist and photographer we booked the second go round did phenomenal jobs and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of vendors to work with.

“I found a bouquet online that I loved and the vision for the flowers and the centerpieces came from that.” Shannon
We named each table after an airplane that Jake had either flown(he’s a pilot as well) or jumped out of.
